Abstract

The stydy considers the obituary as a biographical genre. It is noted that due to its specificity this text should show the public a worthy portrait of a contemporary who passed away, to trace his creative and life path, to reflect the peculiarities of the character. Unfortunately, due to the formal, careless attitude to the creation of the text, the obituary sometimes not only fails to create an adequate portrait of the deceased person, but turns into mockery of his life.
