Abstract

A nurse coach (NC) applies coaching and nursing competencies to help individuals realize their potential. Nurse coaching has been applied in clinical settings to promote patient well-being and health outcomes. A NC's role in nursing school is new. The stress and rigor of nursing education can negatively influence well-being. Stressors left unchecked can lead to burnout during school. Moreover, the NC can implement strategies to stave off burnout, such as self-care, stress management, and resilience building to attain and maintain well-being. The NC role development for nursing students intends to provide holistic support commensurate to the varied needs of an increasingly diverse student population.
