Abstract

In order to solve the pressure and velocity impact problems in the compaction packing process of horizontal well casing, numerical simulation of flow field and structural optimization of gravel pack completion tool were conducted based on Fluent software. The flow field in the gravel pack completion tool was numerically simulated using the k-ε turbulence model, and the impact and wear of the tool were analyzed from the velocity, pressure and turbulence intensity distributions. The velocity, pressure and turbulence intensity of the internal flow field at 20mm and 45mm were calculated. The simulation results are in agreement with the impact wear condition of field test. The results show that the position of blasting holes formed the complex vortex, the casing wall and the blasting hole wall to form the impact.
