Abstract

The numerical computation for an improved model of heat and moisture transfer in fibrous insulation is presented in this paper. An improved model involves more physical phenomena as the factors to effect the heat and moisture transfer in fibrous insulation, such as sorption or desorption of fiber; condensation or evaporation of the free water; diffusion of moisture and heat conduction. In order to solve this model, finite volume method is used to develop the numerical computational scheme. The numerical computation results show this method can present the correct simulation process. The simulation results are compared with the experimental measurements and good agreements are found between the two.
