Abstract

Flange earing of strong anisotropic sheet metals in the deep-drawing process is analyzed numerically by the elastic–plastic large deformation finite element formulation based on the discrete Kirchhoff triangle plate shell element model. A Barlat–Lian anisotropy yield function and a quasi-flow corner theory are introduced in the present formulation. The numerical results are compared with the experimental results of the cylindrical cup drawing process. The focus of the present research is on the numerical analysis and the constraining scheme of the flange earing of circular sheets with strong anisotropy in the square cup drawing process.
