Abstract

A relationship is derived between the number of contacts, the hardness of the counterface, the applied load and the mean diameter of the abrasive particles in two-body abrasive wear, supported by results from experimental observations of both coated silicon carbide abrasive papers and scratches made by them on a soft aluminium surface.
