Abstract

With parameters of the colour dielectric model obtained from fitting pure gluonic properties of QCD, we obtain a good description of the three-quark system. The colour dielectric field at the centre of the hadron is not very different from its vacuum value. The properties of the nucleon are (m N + m Δ) 2 = 1040 MeV, 〈r 2〉 1 2 = 1.2 fm, g A g V = 1.32 μ P = 2.66 μ N for a current quark mass m q = 20 MeV.
