Abstract

Results of a pilot program demonstrated that (1) The nuclear-polyhedrosis virus of Heliothis zea (Boddie) and Heliothis virescens (Fabricius) can be propagated in larvae reared on a semisynthetic diet; (2) the virus thus produced is effective against both species; (3) the techniques are applicable to commercial production and costs may be in the realm of commercial feasibility.
