Abstract

Nuclear power plants, with their remote locations and well-guarded facilities, do not lend themselves to first-hand knowledge among members of the general population. And though nuclear is one of the top industries in terms of safety and performance, the public is left to form its opinions based on stereotypical media images and popular cartoon characters, neither of which is an accurate representation. With this issue of IEEE Power & Energy Magazine, the IEEE Power Engineering Society Nuclear Power Engineering Committee (NPEC) is pleased to present a view of our industry from the inside.
