Abstract

The northern forests of China are mainly included two northern forest regions in the Northeast and the Northwest of China. The first region can be subdivided into the boreal conifer forest district of the Great Xing’an Mountains and the conifer and deciduous forest district of Lesser Xing’an Mountains; the second one can be subdivided into the Northern Montane forest district of Tianshan Mountains and the Northern Montane coniferous forest district. It gives a comprehensive description for the environmental characters, distribution of vegetation and main tree species of the four districts.
