Abstract

Wildlife conservation ideas and practices in United States and Canada formed the original North American model. This set of principles, postulates can and should be further improved, compared with the global flow. Russia has a substantial preconditions and prospects for advancement in a similar direction. In many aspects such movement would means a renewing of pre-revolutionary, Soviet and early post-Soviet experience. However, there are serious barriers to such evolution including the commercial orientation and insufficient awareness of key wildlife use sector policymakers, total corruption and excessive centralization of state wildlife governance and management.
