Abstract

The effect of graphene (Gr) on the nonlinear and linear optical properties of Cadmium-Selenide (CdSe) colloidal quantum dots (QDs) is investigated using Z-scan technique (at 532 nm) and Uv–visible spectrophotometer, respectively. Graphene concentrations are 1, 2 and 3 wt % of CdSe. The values of both linear and nonlinear absorption coefficients (α and β) along with nonlinear refraction index (n2) are increased in the Gr loaded samples. The open aperture results demonstrate that like Gr free samples, a negative n2 is obtained for the Gr included samples which leads to self-defocusing nonlinearity in them.
