Abstract

PETN has been determined by nonaqueous titration as an acid in pyridine and l, l,3,3-tetramethylguanidine. The titrant was tetrabutylammonium hydroxide. Endpoints were determined potentiometrically by a glass/modified calomel electrode system, or by two polarized platinum electrodes. The method may be applicable to other very weakly acidic compounds for which no other titrimetric methods are currently available.
