Abstract

The literature on the Nile system is vast. This chapter does not reiterate the work of Hurst (1957) and the monographs on biology (Hammerton 1972; Rzóska 1976), geology (Said 1981) and palaeolimnology (Williams & Faure 1980), but instead reviews the major features of the basin and incorporates new data and ideas on Nile biogeography, with the intention to partly update Rzóska’s (1976) book.KeywordsMarine BiologyEichhornia CrassipesNile DeltaCrustacean ZooplanktonNile BasinThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
