Abstract
Butadiene reacts with methylamine in the presence of catalytic amounts of di-1,5-cyclooctadienenickel(O), tributylphosphine, and boron trifluoride etherate to give a mixture of N-methyldi-2,7-octadienylamine and N-methyl- N-3(1,7-octadienyl)-2,7-octadiene-1-amino together with small amounts of N-methyl-1-octadieneamines and N-butenyl- N-methyloctadieneamines.
