Abstract

Abstract This chapter takes a look at the news industry. The first section outlines the main political functions and structure of news industries, one of which is the Federal Communications Commission. It then examines the adaptations and challenges for the news industry in the twenty-first century, and considers the consequences for the news industry and for American politics. The next section emphasizes the important changes made in the news industry climate, which include the transfer towards soft interpretive news. The chapter ends with a discussion of the future challenges for the news industry.
