Abstract

ABSTRACT The essay explores the challenges and opportunities presented by the new European electronic communications code (EU Directive 2018/19712) within the context of the European strategy for the digital market. It discusses the evolution of digital platforms, emphasizing their significance as information intermediaries. The concept of “netizenship”, or digital citizenship, and its cultural relevance in the modern era is explored. The document also highlights the importance of algorithmic transparency and the evolution of privacy in the age of Big Data. The issue of digital sovereignty is addressed, and the urgency for enhanced data protection in an increasingly connected world is underscored.
