Abstract
The economical treatment and environmentally acceptable disposal of municipal and industrial wastewater from urban areas large and small is vital to maintaining a balance between economic growth and environmental protection. The award winning Ponce Deep Ocean Outfall project, which provide a cost effective and environmentally sound solution to wastewater management for the City of Ponce, Puerto Rico, serves as a model for other coastal cities in Puerto Rico and elsewhere.
