Abstract

The contemporary level of social development demands more profound intellectual and ideological-moral development in pupils. This being so, the preeminent task is one that has been precisely and pointedly formulated by the [Communist] Party—namely, that the school today is expected to nurture [the child] not only [as] a vehicle of knowledge but first and foremost [as] a citizen, a conscientious, active, ideologically committed worker. From this comes the demand for maximum coordination between the educational work of the school and the main challenge of our day, which is to accelerate socioeconomic development in the country.
