Abstract
The characteristics of our newly developed mathematical models for the computer control of a plate mill are described. These are as follows; unique numerical equations derived from rolling theory and experiment, the method of calculation of draft schedule and introduction of flatness KEY in order to roll the plate of light gage in good shape, and the method of automatic high speed reverse rolling.The result of the application to a 210” 2 stands plate mill is reported. Gage control has exhibited a standard deviation of 0.08 mm and 98% of all the production is being rolled by automatic operation.
