Abstract
New regulations for dental and maxillofacial radiology were introduced in Switzerland. The rules have to be followed immediately (date of entry was January, 1, 2018) without any tran-sitional period. However, everything will be judged with a sense of proportion. The main item is a new regulation for con-tinuing education which requires every dentist (and depending of the exact operational pro-cesses also his or her dental assistants) to participate in up to 6 hours of radiology-specific education every five years. Some other minor adjustments were also made. After all the rules for dental radiology become a little bit more complex. However, this is the (small) price to pay in order to achieve a proper level of radia-tion protection in daily dental practice.
