Abstract

The SLOWPOKE reactor at the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal has been used for neutron activation analysis since 1976. The reproducible neutron flux in the five irradiation sites may be set to values between 1010 and 1012 cm−2s−1. Associated equipment includes versatile pneumatic sample transfer systems and three germanium gamma-ray spectrometers with mechanical sample changers. The laboratory is used by researchers from several universities and by a variety of industries.
