Abstract

1.1. The primary responses evoked in the sensori-motor cortex by single shock stimulation of n. ventralis posterolateralis, n. ventralis posteromedialis and n. ventralis lateralis of thalamus are not affected by electrocortical arousal, induced either by sensory or reticular stimulation.2.2. The augmenting responses, induced by low frequency repetitive stimulation of the same thalamic nuclei, are strongly reduced during cortical arousal. The late components of the augmenting potential show a greater susceptibility.3.3. Unlike the primary responses evoked by thalamic stimulation, similar potentials elicited by peripheral excitation are definitely decreased during cortical arousal.
