Abstract

Considering a restricted form of the generalized Poisson distribution (GPD) as a sub-class of the Modified Power Series distributions Kumar and Consul (1979) obtained a recurrence relation between the negative moments and derived specific values for s = 1,2. We consider the problem of negative integer moments for the unrestricted form of the GPD and derive a number of formulae and recurrence relations which are much simpler than the results obtained by Kumar and Consul.
