Abstract
The recent spate of community protests and shutdowns has convinced me of the correctness of the recommendation in my thesis that we need to institute municipal ombudsmen as a mechanism to mediate community and service delivery disputes. Although I have raised this matter in some political fora in the Province, the idea has not gained political traction I have expected. This is despite the fact that the City of Johannesburg[2] and the City of Cape Town[3] have established the institution already, therefore we have a point of reference.
