Abstract
The need for improved assessment practices in the adolescent chemical dependency field is discussed. This need exists due to a lack of well-developed, standardized assessment tools and because of expanding demands and strains on the adolescent chemical dependency service delivery system. Current efforts to improve the situation are also addressed.
