Abstract

AbstractThe economic, ecological and cultural benefits involved in the management of Mediterranean forests are highlighted. The reasons underlying the need for international cooperation on Mediterranean forests are discussed, as well as the measures required and the nature and role of an international agreement on Mediterranean forests. Finally, current networks of cooperation among Mediterranean countries are described, including: Silva Mediterranean, the Mediterranean Action Plan, and the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership.
