Abstract

The basic speech course is an important part of any student's education and, as such, it should be continuously adjusted and improved to keep pace with the student's needs. The author suggests that, with the ascendance of mediated messages witnessed in the last several decades, the basic course must take the media into account if it is to remain a viable part of a student's college education.
