Abstract
This paper is devoted to the experimental measurements of the refractive properties for five frequently used laser dye solvents: chlorobenzene, dimethyl formamide (DMFM), dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), glycerin and isobutanol. The refractive indices are accurately determined using the laser Mach–Zehnder interferometric technique. The variation of the refractive index n, its thermo-optic coefficients d n/d T, and the optical dispersion d n/d λ as a function of wavelength are calculated and represented. Moreover from the data, the temperature dependence of Cauchy's constants has been determined and a comparison between the studied solvents is made.
