Abstract
ABSTRACT Two independent methods are used to verif the conclusion of Herbig and Boyarchuk (1968) that the nebulosity surrounding FG Sge is an old planetary shell, indicating that shell formation is a repetitive phenomenon. It is suggested that nebula ejection takes place at the thermal relaxation oscillation stage of a helium shell-burning star, through the action of radiation pressure.
