Abstract

Reasons are considered for an anomalously strong change in the activation energy of carbon diffusion in bcc alloys of titanium-niobium in the range of low niobium concentration. The notion of formation of ω-phase microdomains in the bcc phase is invoked, It is shown that the presence of these microdomains may lead to a change in the slope of the temperature dependence of the diffusion coefficient, which may be interpreted as an increase in the activation energy of diffusion.
