Abstract

The effects of phosphogypsum on mortar and concrete with respect to setting time and compressive strength are presented. The influence of the phosphogypsum impurities is discussed, and synthetic surrogate phosphogypsums are studied to duplicate the behavior noted with phosphogypsum. A mechanism for the action of these impurities is postulated, and proposals for beneficiation of the impure material are presented.
