Abstract
We proposed the concept and characteristics of Nature-based Ecological Engineering (NbEE) in this manuscript. According to the research framework of “monitoring and evaluation - coupling mechanism - model simulation - prediction and optimization”, the ecosystem cascade relationships of “Pattern – Process – Service – Well-being” are used to build the conceptual model of NbEE, and to develop an ecological engineering paradigm with the basic framework of “target coordination, diagnostic analysis, pattern optimization, process regulation and evaluation feedback”, in order to scientifically carry out ecological protection and restoration and provide a new path to cope with the global ecological crisis.
