Abstract

Abstract Weeds interfere with humans by being obstructive, suppressing useful plants, lowering the quality of plant and animal products, affecting the well-being of humans and domestic animals, damaging native vegetation, and creating fire hazards. Using the impact of these features, and an estimate of the ability of each species to increase, Auckland's most important wild terrestrial aliens are ranked for degree of weediness. Inadequacies of the weed control strategies are indicated.
