Abstract

The National Trachoma and Eye Health Program, is conducted by the Australian College of Ophthalmologists and financed by the Federal Government. Its five aims are: 1. The elimination of trachomatous blindness in Australia. 2. The presentation of the ocular health status of persons in rural Australia to interested agencies. 3. The provision of immediate eye care to the people in rural Australia. 4. The establishment of continuing eye care for rural Australia. 5. The training of medical, paramedical, and interested lay people in those skills necessary to provide eye care in rural Australia.
