Abstract

As the number of clinical diagnostic tests performed annually in the U.S. climbs toward the billion mark, the nation's laboratories are beset by the dual problem of shortage of trained manpower and inaccuracy of performance. Higher educational standards and greater economic rewards for skilled laboratory workers offer the only solution to this problem, says Dr. Bauer.
