Abstract

N3 center luminescence quenching by the main types of defects (A and B1) related to nitrogen impurity in natural diamond was studied by monitoring the luminescence yield and using the Raman scattering intensity as a measure of the exciting radiation intensity. The luminescence yield from the N3 centers decreases by a factor of about 3000 when the concentration of nitrogen in the form of type A and B1 defects in natural diamond increases from 0.008 to 0.1 at. %.
