Abstract

In this paper based on the characteristics of the magnetic fluid that on different spacial level it shows different features, a novel hybrid method has been present, in which the lattice Boltzmann approach has been used. In the present hybrid model, the computational domain is divided into different regions (fine mesh region and coarse mesh region) in which different‐sized meshes are involved for simulation. On the fine mesh region, the multicomponent lattice Boltzmann method is adopted, and on the coarse mesh region, where the magnetic fluid is considered as a single‐mixed fluid, the single component lattice Boltzmann method is used. With the present method, a Couette flow is simulated to validate the continuity of velocity on the coarse mesh level at the hybrid interface, and the distribution density on different mesh region are investigated. Density patterns of the magnetic particles component under the both cases of the absence and the presence of an external magnetic field are discussed, and find that with the external magnetic field, the chainlike structures are formed.
