Abstract
The causation of anaemia is multifactorial in developing countries and includes micronutrient deficiencies (e.g. iron, folate, vitamin B12), chronic worm infections (e.g. hookworm, trichuris, schistosomiasis), haemoglobinopathies, cancer and chronic non-communicable disease such as chronic kidney disease and heart failure.
