Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper describes the design, construction and structural evalation of a quarter full-size model of a five- story air supported greenhouse. The structure, which is fabricated from clear polyethylene film, consists of an inflated cellular floor system, a pressurized central access column and an air- supported external envelope. The prototype model demonstrates the structural feasibility of employing similar full-size buildings as low-cost, high density greenhouses near densely populated urban areas in the near future.
