Abstract

The recoilless absorption of gamma quanta by 119Sn impurity atoms in massive metallic gallium disappears at 292.454 K. However, the dispersion of liquid gallium containing tin impurity in a porous glass with an average pore size of about 70 A allows the Mossbauer spectra of 119Sn to be observed even at 298.15 K, which is explained by increased “rigidity” of the phonon spectrum of finely dispersed gallium.
