Abstract

Many movie theaters in downtown neighborhoods have been saved from demolition by their renovation and recycling as performing arts centers. While these spaces often have physical characteristics that are deemed acoustically desirable, there are often many features that are detrimental to a good acoustical performing environment. This paper describes typical attributes and deficiencies with methodology to improve the latter.
