Abstract

Abstract (NCNA May 5, 1973) Under the impetus of the movement to criticize revisionism and rectify the work style, the broad ranks of staff and workers on China's light industry front went all out, aimed high, and strived to produce more and better daily industrial commodities. New achievements were won. In the first quarter this year, state plans for many light industrial products, such as cotton fabrics, edible sugar, gunnysacks, machine-made paper and cardboard, cigarettes, light bulbs, and large specialized scales have been fulfilled and overfulfilled. Among these, output of edible sugar increased by 23 percent compared with the same period last year, synthetic detergent by 31 percent, plastic shoes by 54 percent, table tennis balls by 45 percent, and from 20 to 30 percent for chemical fibers, knitted wool and silk goods, bicycles, wristwatches, sewing machines, crude salt, cigarettes, clocks, enamelware, and potteries for daily use. Both quality and variety were increased, and the supply met popular demand.
