Abstract
The authors investigated the scientific activity in Russia for 2009 in the field of finance and in Kazakhstan in all fields of economy. For this purpose 70 doctor and candidate dissertations were analyzed in Russia and 50 ones in Kazakhstan. It is proved that the most referenced scientist in Russia is Oleg Lavrushin, and A. Kaliev in Kazakhstan. The most active higher educational institution as per quantity of proved dissertations is Russian Public Tax Academy under the Ministry of Finance (Russia) and Institute of Mechanics (Kazakhstan).
