Abstract

The research dealt with the most important morphological characteristics and their geomorphological indications of the Wadi al-Shakak basin, one of the seasonal valleys of the eastern Tigris region in Maysan Governorate, whose sources are located near the Iraqi-Iranian border and flows in a north-east-southwest direction, with an area of ​​​​(99,485) km2 with a perimeter of (53,949) km. Where the most important natural factors represented by (geological structure, surface, climate, water resources) influencing the formation of formal characteristics were studied, as well as reference to the most important geomorphological processes (weathering and water erosion) that prevailed during the Pleistocene era and are still continuing to the present time, which contributed to Formation of these morphological characteristics (roundness, elongation, length-to-width ratio, shape modulus, coefficient of fusion) and for the main questioner's basin (4) secondary basins
