Abstract

The echo-encephalogram indicates certain sound-reflecting surfaces within the skull and the deviations of these from the norm. Such displacements of brain tissue can be produced by an increase in volume, i. e. the appearance of a tumour, a hemorrhage etc. or by an increase in the brain volume due to water infiltration or they can be caused by a decrease in volume, i. e. atrophic lesions leading to a loss of tissue and thereby to an alteration in the reflecting surfaces.
