Abstract

A discussion is given of the random movements of the system of a sensitive moving magnet galvanometer, on the assumption that these have a mean energy equal to 1/3 of that of a gas molecule at the same temperature. It is shown that these movements are of importance at sensitivities now practically attainable, and certain deductions are made in connexion with the design of galvanometer systems.
