Abstract

Objective By measuring the physical properties of modified- chitosan spong dressing composited with beewax- sesameoil to assess its moisturizing properties,and observe its effect promoting wound healing and explore its mechanism. Methods Water absorption, dehydration, and permeability rate of gauze (A), modified- chitosan non- woven fabric composited with beewax- sesameoil(B), modified- chitosan sponge(C),and modified- chitosan spong dressing composited with beewax- sesameoil(D)were measured, and water absorption rate and water vapor transmission rate(WVTR) were calculated.Two full- thickness skin wounds were created on the back of the 12 SD rats each bilaterally and symmetrically, and were divided into two groups randomly, the first group on the left provides wound rats in group A(NSgauze group), the right of the wound for group B(modified- chitosan non- woven fabric composited with beewax- sesameoil group), the left side of the wound for the second group of rats in group C(modified- chitosan sponge group), the right of the wound for D group(modified- Chitosan spong dressing composited with beewaxsesameoil group).After dressing process modeling conducted every two days, the wound healing rate and CD31 expression with the first,7th,14th,21th day. Results Modified- Chitosan spong dressing composited with beewax- sesameoil showed a water absorption 111% of its own weight.Its water absorption rate and loss rate is stable and lasting; Water vapor transmission rate(WVTR)is 1 080.82 g/(m2·d).Its moisture resistance is good,but its breathability is unsatisfactory.The wound healing rate of group D was(80.99±3.06)%, (97.59±1.00)% at 14th, 21th day.There was significant difference with other groups.At 14th and 21th days, the wound healing rate of group D were better than other groups.There were no significant differences in capillary density between group D and B, C group at 7th day.At 14th and 21th days, the capillary density of group D were significant differences with other groups. Conclusion Modified- chitosan spong dressing composited with beewax- sesameoil with good moisture resistance, can promote wound healing and wound tissue expression of CD31,is conducive to the growth of new blood vessels wounds.
