Abstract

A model atmosphere code for hot high gravity stars is in progress which takes into account the chemical stratification of hydrogen, helium and carbon. The normal hydrostatic equation is splitted into one equation for each species. These equations are coupled by the electric field and the ionization terms. The local electric field is obtained from the charge neutrality condition, the ionization terms are computed according to the method by Wildt(1936, 1937), solved analytically. Integration of the hydrostatic equilibrium equations from an inner layer outwards yields the run of partial pressures for each species with geometrical depth.
