Abstract

The brushless doubly-fed generator (BDFG) is a new typical machine of the variable speed and constant frequency wind power generation system. Comparing with the conventional AC excited induction generators, BDFG not only has simple and credible structure, but robustness and reliability of the reluctance or cage -rotor inductance machines. Using d-q rotor reference coordinate system as a start point, this paper presents the mathematical model for brushless doubly-fed generator. Based on the working principle and the characteristic of BDFG operation under no-load condition, the simulation model of BDFG under no-load condition is established completely and enclosed to be the block on Matlab/Simulink environment. The simulation results verify the validity and feasibility of the designed model, which provides the theoretical foundation and simulation block for the further researches on the no-load cutting-in control strategy for the brushless doubly-fed wind power generation system.
